xXx-Naxxramas-xXx420 joins Hearthstone

Today at PAX East Blizzard announced Curse of Naxxramas: A Hearthstone Adventure, a single player Adventure Mode for Blizzard’s super popular game HearthstoneNaxxramas sounds like a screen name one would see in Call of Duty.

The adventure charges the player with using their favorite deck to face off against multiple bosses across five different wings of Naxxramas, a floating necropolis. As the player progresses through the necropolis, a total of 30 new cards will be able to be unlocked. Each wing will also award each player one Legendary card. The player can even add the new cards to their decks upon unlocking them in-game.

Blizzard outlined one of the bosses on their blog. Heigan the Unclean who’s 1 gem Eruption spell will deal 2 damage to the left-most minion and his Mindpocalypse which will give both players 2 cards and a Mana Crystal.

While Heigan seems pretty gross, the new Challenges (9 in all), the new game board, and the 30 additional cards are going to make this addition pretty sweet. Blizzard has said that it doesn’t want to over-indulge in microtransactions, so how are players going to access all of this content? Blizzard outlined it themselves quite succinctly:

Curse of Naxxramas will open its gates over the course of 5 weeks, opening wing by wing. The first wing of Curse of Naxxramas, The Arachnid Quarter, will be available free for all Hearthstone players. If you wish to venture further into Naxxramas to collect all of the new cards for your collection, each wing besides the Arachnid Quarter can be purchased with in-game gold or real money, whichever you prefer.

So, if any of you were freaking out about playing for this content it seems like there is going to be a “free-to-play” way to get at all of this content. Blizzard is planning for Curse of Naxxramas to release simultaneously for PC, Mac and iPad. A release date was not part of the announcement.
